Leave the A19 at junction with the A690 and head for Sunderland. Carry on over the first roundabout then turn right at the second, following the signs for Silksworth Sports Complex. Follow the road right up to the main building and park in the car park. The lake is a 5 minute walk down some 100 steps, not for the disabled.See the map outside.

For those with mobility problems the parking is the same but gaining access to the lake is a bit more complex. From the car park take a route via the footpath leading down to the rear of Sainsbury's store.At the fork take a left turn and follow the path round to the lower area of the lake arriving at a bridge over the stream. From here access can be obtained to fishing pegs either side of the lake.
