Silksworth
Lakes were created in the early eighties as a part of the reclamation
of the old Silksworth Pit. The entire site was developed to include an
athletics track, artificial ski slope, a large all weather games area
and two lakes. The lake known as the Bottom Lake was
established as a fishing venue whilst the Top Lake was originally
designed for on the water activities. i.e. boating etc.The
bottom lake very quickly became a popular angling venue and has
continued to thrive over the years. The top lake has now come under the
wing of the Sunderland Freshwater Angling Club and received an initial
stocking of carp in 2006 as the commencement of developing it as a
specimen venue.Bailiffs
from SFAC patrol the whole area daily and all anglers may be asked to
produce their NRL and club membership card/day ticket at any time.Night fishing is only permitted with the written authority of SFAC.
